Who We Are

Powell Human Resources Consulting, LLC, is a Puget Sound area consulting firm providing a wide variety of organizational development and human resources consulting services. Our services can be provided on-site or off-site, or a combination that best meets your organization's needs. Some of our clients use our services to supplement an existing human resource department while others find it advantageous to use our services in place of a formal human resource function. We provide sustainable results to help our clients achieve greater profitability, organizational strength, and individual growth.

Founded in July of 2004 by Lani Powell, the firm continues to grow and establish its reputation as a trusted resources for employers in the Puget Sound region.

Lani Powell, MHR, SPHR
President

Lani has extensive experience in executive and internal consulting roles in both public and private sector organizations of all sizes, including AT&T, Ogden Allied International, Tacoma School District, and North Kitsap School District. She has successful experience in both non-union and multi-union environments. Lani has a Bachelor's degree in Workforce Education & Development and a Master's degree in Human Resources. She is a certified Mediator and a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR.)

Lani is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Northwest Human Resource Management Association (NHRMA), and Tacoma Rotary. She has taught at Chapman University in the Masters of Human Resource program, UW Tacoma in the Keybank professional certificate program, Tacoma Community College and others in HR certificate programs. She has served on several boards and advisory councils including the Board of Directors of the South Puget Sound Chapter of SHRM.

Janice Tuman, MHR, SPHR
Senior Consultant, Human Resources

Janice has a BA in Accounting from the University of Puget Sound and a MS in Human Resources from Chapman University, and she is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Janice has extensive experience in the hospitality, retail, and manufacturing and healthcare industries at Super 8 Motels, Target Stores, Westmark Products and Franciscan Health System.

Janice has taught the HR certification preparation (PHR/SPHR) course at Green River Community College and Brandman University.  Currently she is an adjunct professor at Brandman University, teaching HR Systems, Recruitment and Selection, and Legal Issues.  She also currently teaches various HR courses at UW Tacoma in the Keybank Professional certificate program.  Janice is a member of SHRM and NHRMA, and serves on the board of directors for the South Puget Sound chapter of SHRM.
